Sharing stories of my adventures as a rescue advocate, dog lover, and boy mom!
All the dogs in the world…
I often think to myself, if only I could win the lottery, I would start a rescue for the misfits. The seniors that get dumped to die in a shelter; the black dogs that don’t even get looked at; the big wonderful bullies that are there just because of pet policies denying them; the beautiful labs that are ditched because they are high energy and stubborn to train. Yes, I would definitely start my own rescue, and help these dogs.
But, I also would adopt more dogs. I would adopt every dog that looks like Oscar (well maybe not every, but a lot of them!). There are SO many Oscar look a likes out there, and it breaks my heart that people don’t see them for the amazing dog he/she is. Of course I know that they might not all be just like my baby…but the ones that I have met, ARE just like him..sweet, incredibly loving, easy to train. They just need a chance. Someone to look and see the love in their eyes. Someone to see past the black fur and the pit bull type look.
So, this post is in dedication to Oscar’s look-a-likes…
This next girl is adorable & trained? Jackpot!!
Ok, so maybe this next pup doesn’t look exactly like my Oscar, but she is GORGEOUS!
Fara was found tied to a pole with a string. A neighbor believes she belonged to a family in the neighborhood who moved out. Fara is extremely friendly and very submissive. She is about 6 months old and a bundle of joy. She is under weight and small for her age. Fara has a beautiful coat; but due to FL elements and fleas while she was tied up, she has a skin infection and flea dermatitis. Fara will require medication for her skin; she will also need to be vaccinated, spayed, micro-chipped, and provided the basic necessities while in foster care.
All of our rescues are Vet checked; up to date on shots, de-wormed, spayed/neutered (unless they are a special needs case with a medical condition preventing the surgery or if they are to young), as well as being up to date on heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Adoption fee is $200 Please contact Laurie at 407-237-0257 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
These dogs are all over Florida, and they are just a TINY snippet of the THOUSANDS of dogs out there in need of homes. Because they’ve been dumped in a shelter, or ditched in the woods, or let out of a yard to roam free, and now they are left to fend for themselves, scared, hungry, hoping that they will fall into the loving hands of someone who will treat them the way they deserve. If you want a black pit bull, trust me, I can find you one. If you want a pure bred Lab, yup I can find one of those too. Oh you want a pure bred German Shepherd, mmhmm, I promise, there is one out there, in a shelter or rescue, needing a forever home.
If you can’t adopt, then foster. If you can’t foster, then volunteer. If you can’t volunteer, then network by sharing adoptable dogs on social media. There IS ALWAYS something you can do, and there is ALWAYS TIME. Instead of sharing an E-card on Facebook, share a shelter dog’s picture instead just once a day. You never know which one of your 539 friends might be looking for a dog!
Pure Bred or Mixed…all of these dogs are loving and wonderful, and are in need of forever homes. They long to be a part of a family. If you would like to be a hero to one of these pups below, please email us at LastHopeRescueFL@gmail.com!!
From my family to your’s, goodnight & have a great weekend!!
