Hambone update!

This great couple came to meet Hambone yesterday. I have talked to the husband a couple of times on the phone. He works from home; the wife works a regular 8-5 weekday job; and they don’t have any other furry children. I gave them all the details on Hammy, and we scheduled the meet & greet.

They came by yesterday afternoon. It of course was pouring rain, so I put Lucy and Oscar away, that way Hambone could get all the attention! Hammy got lots of pats and loving, as we talked about him, and his history. Then there was a break in the rain, so we decided to take him out for a walk. They even asked Jayden to walk Hambone, so they could see just how gentle and well behaved he was. The wife asked lots of good questions, like how often he goes out, what his energy level is, etc. I explained that Hammy is very laid back, and loves to sleep on the couch. However, I also think he’d be a great hiking buddy, and if trained correctly, I bet he’d even be a great running or biking partner! Due to being a hunting dog, and most likely never an inside pet, Hambone is still learning what exactly you do with toys, but he really seems to love a tennis ball. He is great with dogs, and I would assume he’d be fine with cats because he is so gentle.

The couple seemed to really like him, and we discussed the next steps in the adoption process. I recommended a weekend-long overnight stay. This will allow them time to see what it’s like to have a dog in the house, and it will give everyone time to get to know each other.

So, hopefully I will hear from them sometime this week to set that up, and then we’ll go from there! Please send lots of good luck & happy forever-home thoughts our way!!

Happy Monday!
