Reunited and it feels so good!

Hi friends! Did ya miss me?! ūüėČ I have been a busy bee, celebrating my kiddo’s 7th birthday! We had all kinds of adventures, including going to Lego Land, the beach, and the Orlando Science Center! Although we’ve been celebrating since Friday (the start of his Spring Break), he officially turned 7 yesterday. Hard to believe!!

So anyway, this all took place out of town, so Lucy stayed in Jacksonville at a friend’s house, while Oscar came with us. I wanted Oscar to have the chance to meet my parents dogs, without Lucy around. Also, with us being so busy, and Lucy being an active dog, I knew she’d get more attention there then with us. She got to go to the beach, and have some one on one attention, which she definitely loves!

In the meantime, Oscar got to meet the two “Witches of Deltona.” (haha I’m sure my mom doesn’t appreciate that!) It’s so weird. Her dogs (a cocker spaniel & a Chihuahua) are so nice to people, but really want nothing to do with dogs…they are perfectly nice to each other though! I really thought they’d at least like Oscar more than Lucy, since he is more their size….not the case! Oscar desperately wanted to play, but was very well behaved, and just ran away from them when they tried to eat his face off (maybe that’s a little bit of an exaggeration).

He did seem to miss Lucy though! The first night, he woke up multiple times whining, wanting to go look around the house (for her, I assume). I think with Lucy not being there, and then the two dogs not being friendly, he was missing his normal play time and cuddles with his doggie sis! If you remember, I previously talked (here) about the nice dried up lake behind my parents house, where the dogs can run. Unfortunately (for Oscar), there is a new crane baby:

I didn’t want to take the chance that Oscar would come across the lil babe, so he didn’t get to run free. We did take a couple nice walks though, which I know he enjoyed. He really seems to love the water (there is still some lake left)! He also met all kinds of new people, and was loved by all!

After a long stay, and lots of exhausting fun, it was finally time to go home. We stopped to get Lucy, and I swear, you have never seen two more excited dogs! They were both so happy  to see each other again. I let them run around the backyard to get some energy out, before we had to pile back in the car for the three hour trip home.

Have you ever split your dogs up, only to find them missing each other? What do you do with your dogs when you go out of town? I’d love to hear your stories!

I hope you all have had a great weekend, and a good start to the week! See you all tomorrow! ūüôā

  1. I had two dogs once that were like a mated pair (they never had puppies, but had a great love affair). We couldn’t take them anywhere except together. Even to the vet (and one needed to go much more often than the other). If we took Cassidy somewhere without Querida, she would snub him and act very, very offended when we brought him home. She would get very snarly with him until she forgave him. But in a kind of cute way…

I LOVE the pictures of Lucy and Oscar together again. SO sweet! And poor, poor Oscar having to suffer thru a chihuahua and a cocker spaniel all alone! (I am definitely a size-ist when it comes to dogs — I don’t do small dogs!)

    1. aww, that’s sweet! I think Oscar is more like a pesky little brother to Lucy, but they sure do love each other!

  2. We have 3 dogs: a 91/2 year old Lab with a bad heart, a 71/2 year old English Cocker girl and a 4 year old English Cocker boy. My older girl EC likes to sleep cuddled up to someone and she’ll cuddle up to anyone, human or dog, *except* for my EC male. We keep them together when we go away and try to get someone we know and trust to come and live here with them. We won’t put them in any kennels because they are not used to being caged and we know they wouldn’t be happy. As for me, when we are away, I think about them everyday and I’m really happy when we get back home.
